Freshwater pearl jewelry now on KBlossoms!

8/21/2011

Kblossoms has just released our collection of freshwater pearl necklaces and earrings!  Pearl is the modern June birthstone.  It is also the Gemini and Cancer birthstones and is given to the wife during her 1st wedding anniversary.  The pearls we have in our store all are freshwater pearls; an organic gem formed inside oysters or mussels.  Our pearl earring and necklace designs come in ivory, rose, gray, and gold colors!  A pearl is formed when an irritant such as a tiny stone or bit of sand gets inside the mollusk’s shell.  A lustrous substance called nacre is secreted around the object to protect the soft internal surface of the mollusk.  Over time, layer upon layer of nacre coats the sand or stone, and a pearl is formed.  It can take up to seven or eight years for a solid pearl to form!  Go our our Etsy store to see more!  www.kblossoms.etsy.com
