The life in the other factions are very hard where people work in hard labor mining coal, farming, working in factories in dismal conditions. Katniss is a 16 year old girl from District 12 who hates the Capitol and loves her family, so much that she volunteers to take the place of her sister, whose name came up in the lottery for the Hunger Games. Katniss is a skilled hunter bow and arrow and often hunts illegally outside the electric fences of District 12. She doesn't like to kill but she has to for her own survival in the Hunger Games.
