Description of "Two Is Better Than One"
This is one of my favorite acrylic paintings where I painted in a gradient style. I wanted to paint a long tree branch stretched horizontally throughout the long canvas with a turquoise background. Most of my cherry blossom paintings have a turquoise background to blend in with my new apartment dark brown interior decor. I have dark brown matching furniture and curtains with a sheer turquoise curtain in the middle of the window. Most of my towels and table mats are turquoise color as well. I think turquoise is a beautiful color that complements dark brown very well. This method of painting is quite difficult because it's hard to get the right mixture of white and red on the brush to make it blend well and show up on the canvas in exactly the same pattern for each flower. To get the right texture, sometimes I had to apply three or four coats of paint on the flower. I've added two blue love birds into the painting because two is always better than one according to Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift in their love song "Two Is Better Than One" (See youtube link below) The two lovebirds birds symbolize love and companionship. I decided to use very vibrant red and orange colors for the petals because I wanted the cherry blossoms to pop out of the painting and they made very pretty spring colors. This painting goes well in the living room or dining room.
Inspiration for "Two Is Better Than One"
Arcadia Arboretum continues to be my inspiration to paint cherry blossoms. Below are the two pink trees, one of them is a cherry blossom tree and the other is a pink trumpet tree at Arcadia Arboretum during the Spring. Often time, I find either peacocks or small pairs of birds flying around or hanging out in these pink trees. It's fun to watch love birds singing in a pink cherry blossom tree on a warm spring day.
