I have created Kblossoms lavender jewelry for you all inspired by my recent trip to the Ojai Lavender Festival held on June 29, 2013! This is Ojai's 10th annual lavender festival where they have vendors selling everything made of lavender: lavender soap, yogurt, sea salt, tea, essential oils, dried bouquets, sachets, cooking spices, lemonade! It was lavender heaven for me and I wanted to buy everything lavender that I saw but had to exert self control! Besides the aromatic calming effect of the lavender essential oils used to make lavender honey, lavender goals milk soap, and lavender mint tea I really was surprised by all the healing properties of lavender. Lavender has powerful antiseptic properties and helps to heal wounds faster and also helps with stomach and digestive problems. You can even massage lavender oil to your temples, neck and forehead to relieve headaches and tension after a long day of work. Lavender is great for skin problems like acne, burns, dry skin, sunburn, and itchy skin. It was such a hot 100 degree summer day that we melted walking around the festival so we cooled ourselves down with a nice refreshing cup of iced lavender lemonade and lavender yogurt, so yummy! I brought some lavender rose tea and lavender mint tea home with me and brewed them pouring a hint of lavender honey in them to create iced lavender tea to drink on hot summer days. It helps cool you down immediately and is a great thirst quencher. My next lavender favorites are the hand made lavender lotion and soap above. I really like the way the lady cut the lovely lavender goal soap in front of me in this wooden compartment and I like how it's decorated with real dried lavender and rose buds which adds a hint of country vintage charm. I use the lavender lotion I got from Central Coast Lavender after I shower with the softest lavender goats milk leaving my skin feeling so soft and body so relaxed! It's my way of pampering myself at home with my busy work schedule where I never have time to go to the spa. My last favorite lavender item I got at the Ojai Lavender Festival was a $5 bouquet of freshly cut lavender that I immediately came home and decorated with a purple silk bow and cherry blossom flowers in a glass jar. I placed the beautiful lavender display on my living room table and it makes the whole room aromatic and so fragrant. I get to come home basically feeling relaxed smelling the lavender aroma all around me. Hope you all like the Kblossoms lavender inspired jewelry I created and thanks for reading!
I recently took the above pictures of the beautiful purple jacaranda trees in South Pasadena, CA. They are the inspiration for my KBlossoms purple amethyst earrings and necklaces! The Jacaranda tree is known for its clusters of purple, fragrant, trumpet shaped blossoming flowers. The jacaranda is native to tropical and subtropical regions of South America (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay), Central America and Mexico but it has spread to other parts of Latin American, US, Australia, and Africa. They are known for their beautiful purple blossoms but also can be messy as they infamously shed their flowers all over the grass and sidewalk. The original pronunciation of this tree is 'jacarandá’, with the accent on the last syllable. This word comes from Brazil, from the Tupí Indian language. The jacaranda trees bloom for two months twice a year, once around April - May and again around November – December. Although there are 49 species of the tree, the Jacaranda mimosifolia is the most popular street foliage tree in Los Angeles because it thrives in sunny, tropically tinged weather with little rain. Redondo Beach Cherry Blossom TreeMaterials Used: Acrylic on Illustration Board and Gold Deco Color Paint Marker
Original Size: 20"x30" Description of "Redondo Beach Cherry Blossom Tree" This is a painting of a lavender cherry blossom tree at the Redondo Beach Marina during the sunset hours. The sky is painted with various shades of peach, pink, yellow and purple representing a typical Southern Californian sunset. The water in the back of the wall reflects the beautiful sunset. The cherry blossom tree looks magical with it's strong dark roots and trunk branching out with lots of cherry blossom flowers that are lined with a shiny gold color. The cherry blossom flowers are lavender with a yellow circular center with speckled stamens. Each cherry blossom is gold lined with a gold Art Decco gold paint pen; I love the gold shimmer as you look at the painting from a different angle. Inspiration for "Redondo Beach Cherry Blossom Tree" My inspiration for painting this purple cherry blossom tree comes from my good friend that I have known for a long time. This was her wedding gift. This cherry blossom painting has the backdrop of the Redondo Beach Marina, which is the location of her wedding reception at the Portofino Hotel. The colors of the cherry blossoms, lavender and yellow are her wedding colors. The big tree silhouetted against the sunset symbolizes strong roots and a beautiful strong relationship and the flowers are blossoms of happiness sprouting for the couple. Redondo Beach has always been a romantic setting and a relaxing place to have a date and eat great seafood. On a regular beautiful sunny Southern California day at Redondo Beach, you'll also find lots of fisherman fishing, brown pelicans scouting out fish that the fisherman has tossed out, great seafood restaurants, kayakers, gondola rides, and maybe you might even spot seals in the water! Dreamy CloudsMaterials Used: Acrylic on canvas
Original Size: 16"x20" Price for Original Painting: $399.99 Description of "Dreamy Clouds" This is a dreamy cherry blossom painting with puffy pink and white clouds with a pretty purple butterfly. A pink and lavender cherry blossom tree lies in front. The colors are very light and cheerful; it's like a clip from a child's imagination or dream. The cherry blossoms are painted two dimensionally representing Japanese cherry blossoms (sakuras) during the spring. The style of this painting reminds me of Japanese anime movies and manga. Inspiration for "Dreamy Clouds" The inspiration for my "Dreamy Clouds" painting comes from Caribe Playa located in Patillas, Puerto Rico. It is a pristine beach in the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico. The puffy pink clouds are so dreamy in this little cove. It's an unspoiled beach with tropical breezes and pelicans flying in the sky. A nice resort to stay right on this beach is the Caribe Playa Beach Resort. You can lie in their hammocks, swim in their pool and jacuzzi and have great virgin pina coladas and authentic Puerto Rican food. There is so much humidity in Puerto Rico, that the clouds there are puffy white with shades of pink, purple, orange during the sunset hours depending on the time of the year. The 2 pictures of the clouds at Patillas are taken about half an hour apart showing how the colors change during the sunset hours. The cherry blossoms that I paint come in various shapes, colors, designs that don't really exist in nature or don't really exist in certain parts of the world. That is the artistic beauty of painting, I can superimpose beautiful cherry blossom trees and flowers to any place and time from my imagination or from a place in the world I have traveled to. Mothers Day Gift Materials Used: Acrylic on Canvas
Original Size: 16"x20" Description of "Mother's Day Gift" This is a purple pink sunset cherry blossom painting with various lavender shades of cherry blossoms. There are 3 large dark lavender cherry blossoms in the middle surrounded by smaller light lavender cherry blossoms. The background is a blue purplish sky with a pink sunset. I used very vibrant magenta, purple and yellow colors for this cherry blossom painting. This painting is painted three dimensionally giving texture to the cherry blossoms and branches. This would make a great Mother's Day gift or gift for your mother or grandma for her birthday. It looks best framed with a burgundy red wood on the wall to match the branch color. Inspiration for "Mother's Day Gift" I created this purple pink sunset cherry blossom painting for my boyfriend's mom for Mother's Day. Purple is her favorite color so I decided to paint lavender cherry blossoms because I think that a painting of flowers will last longer than live cut flowers or plants. Below are several lavender flowers taken at The Flower Fields (in Carlsbad, CA) or in my neighbor's front yards of purple daisies or flowers that inspired me to paint these lavender cherry blossoms. I like the dark interior wisps of purple on the flower petals. |
