I just created this new Kblossoms pink cherry blossom branch vase design to decorate my home for Chinese New Years which is on 2/10/13! Happy Year of the Snake! These are artificial pink cherry blossom branches that I bought at L&W Floral Design Inc. in Downtown LA at 429 S. San Pedro St, Los Angeles 90013. They have the best selection of artificial flower bouquets, vases, butterflies, lanterns, and decorations for weddings, events, and parties! I bought two bundles of the cherry blossom branches and inserted them one branch at a time into the pearl gels which holds them down inside the vase. I bought two small bags of water pearl gels from them and poured one quart of water into the vase. It takes about 5-6 hours for the tiny pearl gels to expand to the size in this picture. It's so fun watching them grow before your eyes! The more water you add, the larger they grow and they last about 3 months in the vase. I also cut off a few cherry blossom flowers and mixed them in the pearl gels to add color to it. I got the beautiful branch vase at IKEA years ago. This is the perfect size vase to decorate your house because it's tall enough to hold roses, flowers, branches and can also hold potpourri too! This is such an easy centerpiece to make for your home or office all for under $20! Hope you have enjoyed this cherry blossom blog and will try to design one too for your wedding, baby shower, or Chinese New Year!
I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to visit Oakland during the end of February. The weather in Oakland was sunny and warm and felt like early Spring! All the pink magnolia trees you see above were in full bloom at Preservation Park. They add beautiful Springtime foliage to a circle of beautiful Victorian homes that remind me so much of the colorful gingerbread homes of Martha's Vineyard, MA! The pink cherry blossoms seen above are taken from Rockridge, this upper class area of Oakland. Rockridge is a ritzy area with beautiful boutique shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and markets. They have many residential streets just lined with these pink blossoms in full bloom! I'm so delighted to capture these pink magnolia and cherry blossom photos on my camera.
Oakland's blossoming pink magnolias and cherry blossom trees has inspired me to create these cherry blossom jewelry made of rose pearl, resin sakuras, Swarovski crystal, rose quartz, glass, and other precious stones. Medium: Acrylic on canvas Size: 16"x20" This is my latest cherry blossom painting called “Chinese Porcelain Cherry Blossom Vase Still Life Painting”. It’s my first still life vase painting of my cherry blossom series. I delicately painted a white Chinese porcelain vase with orange flowers and green leaves. The background is dark brown and really contrasts with the magenta cherry blossoms which are two dimensional while the brown branch remains textured. A magenta cherry blossom branch is put in the vase and is commonly used as the centerpiece décor in Chinese households during Chinese New Years. This is the perfect painting to hang on the wall of your dining room, living room, or office! I was inspired to paint these beautiful magenta cherry blossoms by the beautiful pink wildflowers of San Juan waterfall located in the Cleveland National Forest. The magenta wildflowers are vibrant in color and mother's natures beautiful creation. San Juan waterfall is an easy 1 mile round trip hike in the Santa Ana mountains. This is a short loop trail where you sill see many chaparral type of wildflowers and lizards darting across your path. We took the pictures of this 15 foot waterfall above on the trail overlooking it below. The entire hike was covered with these beautiful magenta wildflowers. I just had to paint them in cherry blossom form since they are so gorgeous along our path making hiking so fun and enjoyable! Material used: Color pencils Description of Pink Cherry Blossoms: This is a color pencil pink cherry blossom drawing that I did over cotton paper. There are several cherry blossoms in focus in the middle with branches blurred in the background. The entire background has shades of green, purple, and blue. Inspiration for Pink Cherry Blossoms: I was inspired to do this pink cherry blossom drawing because of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in DC. This festival happens once a year between April and May where 3,000 pink cherry blossom trees bloom simultaneously on the National Mall and Tidal Basin area. It is an amazing sight to see! These cherry blossom trees were given as gift from Japan to the US in 1912 as a gesture to bring the two countries closer together. The cherry blossom or Sakura is Japan’s national flower symbolizing renewal of life and celebration of blooming. Next year it will be the 100th year anniversary of these beautiful pink cherry blossom trees. I think everyone should visit DC during the cherry blossom festival at least once in their lifetime to see these beautiful blossoming trees! Mother's Day is just around the corner on May 8th! You can find the perfect Mother's Day gift by shopping at my Etsy store! I have new pink cherry blossom leaf necklaces, love bird branch necklaces, and cherry blossom earrings for your mom. Swan LakeMaterials Used: Acrylic on canvas
Original Size: 22"x28" Description of "Swan Lake" This is an abstract pink cherry blossom tree painting of two swan lovers at the peaceful Lake Shrine Temple in Malibu, CA. The pink cherry blossoms are full and vibrant under the starry night skies. The lake is very dreamy with a reflection of the starry night sky, cherry blossom trees, and windmill. This is my impressionistic style cherry blossom painting; the cherry blossom trees and flowers are painted with very little detail unlike my previous two dimensional cherry blossom paintings. This is more scenic involving two beautiful swan lovers as the focal point surrounded by starry skies. Inspiration for "Swan Lake" I painted this cherry blossom painting as a wedding gift for my good friend that I have known for years. She was married on Labor Day weekend. The two swans are in love in a peaceful beautiful lake surrounded by pink cherry blossom trees, just like my friend and her husband. I wish them a happy new life together like these swans in their peaceful lake under the warm starry night sky, which symbolizes their love and a new life together. This Swan Lake painting is inspired by a real place in Malibu, CA; a garden of tranquility called Lake Shrine Temple or officially the "Self-Realization Fellowship Lake and Shrine". This is a beautiful lake and meditation center built in 1950 by an eastern Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda. It's a place for all people regardless of their religion to come and relax and find the inner spirit within them. There is a Dutch windmill, chapel, spring fed lake, rushing waterfalls, fern grottos, fountains, rose garden, statues representing the major religions, turtles, and most importantly, a pair of beautiful white swans that call this lake their home. Lake Shrine Temple is open to the public, admission is free and there is free parking as well. They are closed Mondays and occasionally on Saturdays. They are open Tues-Sat 9AM-4:45PM and are located on Sunset Blvd. in Malibu, about half a mile inland from the Pacific Coast Hwy. If you want to find a place to meditate or relax, go visit Lake Shrine! |
