Swan Lake

Description of "Swan Lake"
This is an abstract pink cherry blossom tree painting of two swan lovers at the peaceful Lake Shrine Temple in Malibu, CA. The pink cherry blossoms are full and vibrant under the starry night skies. The lake is very dreamy with a reflection of the starry night sky, cherry blossom trees, and windmill. This is my impressionistic style cherry blossom painting; the cherry blossom trees and flowers are painted with very little detail unlike my previous two dimensional cherry blossom paintings. This is more scenic involving two beautiful swan lovers as the focal point surrounded by starry skies.
Inspiration for "Swan Lake"
I painted this cherry blossom painting as a wedding gift for my good friend that I have known for years. She was married on Labor Day weekend. The two swans are in love in a peaceful beautiful lake surrounded by pink cherry blossom trees, just like my friend and her husband. I wish them a happy new life together like these swans in their peaceful lake under the warm starry night sky, which symbolizes their love and a new life together.
This Swan Lake painting is inspired by a real place in Malibu, CA; a garden of tranquility called Lake Shrine Temple or officially the "Self-Realization Fellowship Lake and Shrine". This is a beautiful lake and meditation center built in 1950 by an eastern Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda. It's a place for all people regardless of their religion to come and relax and find the inner spirit within them. There is a Dutch windmill, chapel, spring fed lake, rushing waterfalls, fern grottos, fountains, rose garden, statues representing the major religions, turtles, and most importantly, a pair of beautiful white swans that call this lake their home.
Lake Shrine Temple is open to the public, admission is free and there is free parking as well. They are closed Mondays and occasionally on Saturdays. They are open Tues-Sat 9AM-4:45PM and are located on Sunset Blvd. in Malibu, about half a mile inland from the Pacific Coast Hwy. If you want to find a place to meditate or relax, go visit Lake Shrine!
